Williamsburg was a normal city, full of shitheads and cops. It had it's fair share of crime and stereotypes, just like all others did.
That was until something pretty unusual happened. Unusual is an understatement...
A few miles of the city was shut off - confusion was everywhere and no-one knew why. The military just stopped everything. By the time I got there, the whole street was barricaded up. It came with a horrific illness. I couldn't tell you why the virus/disease does what it does, or how it does what it does. I've seen it for myself though, I know what it does. First the girl went into some sort of flu, she had a fever but wrapped up warm and drank lots of soup. Then she had a fit, and it only got worse. Coughing up blood, blindness, paralysis...
She fell asleep and never woke up. Well, not until we went to bury her...
I beat her - no, it - to death with a wrench...
Further and further the city went, down into a hellish abyss. The power was cut, then the water was stopped. It was chaos, people were dying from a virus but still the city fought against itself. Looters, murderers. Cops were helpless without communication and the streets were a war zone. There was an outcry for help, but nothing came...the army just stood at the perimeter, leaving us to the gangs and the 'zombies'...
It was as if the military knew about the virus and had to quarantine us...
That's all I can tell you. It's 3 months in, most of the gang-bangers are dead or undying and only the lucky are still alive, banding together to outlive the undead.
You're one of us - the unfortunate survivor like me. If you're useful to the 'community' you'll go far, otherwise, pick up a brick and hold back the horde...
---
The story is set roughly at least 3 months after the quarantine.
